A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR
Hello, my name is Dempsey Birmingham. I am the creator, writer, and director of Spun. After more than a year of preproduction, rewrites, and the assembly of the right crew, I believe it is time to share the heart behind Spun with you all. This short story illustrates the feelings we all have of being alone, ordinary, and not adequate enough in our jobs and everyday lives. Instead, realizing that we have been set apart in life in order to blaze our own trails and forge our own destinies on the paths that we have been set on in life.
Spun comes from a dream I had during one of the most tumultuous seasons of my life. After graduating in the middle of Covid and unable to find a job in the field I had chosen, I was given this dream of reassurance. My hope is that this dream becomes a reality, to share with you all the message I was given.
PAST AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS
Dempsey's directorial debut, "A Fistful of Lead" was accepted into 7 major film festivals, nominated for 20 awards including best director, screenplay, cinematography, actor, and student short. It was awarded 10 titles including people's choice, best thriller, best student short, and an award of recognition from the prestigious Best Shorts film festival.
